The John H. Chafee Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor Commission was established in 1986 to preserve, protect, and interpret the natural, historical and cultural resources of the Blackstone River Valley. The Commission works collaboratively with organizations, businesses and agencies on the local, state and federal level in an effort to achieve those goals. To help improve the health of the Blackstone’s riverways and excite citizens about the river’s recreational opportunities, we offer several environmental education programs, encourage water quality testing, sponsor various events, programs and projects including storm drain stenciling, Paddle Club, pollution prevention projects and more.
